MEET THE ARTIST
Hi! I’m Harriet, a Suffolk-based artist with a deep love of animals and curiosity about the natural world. I’ve always been fascinated by nature ever since I was little, and I feel that curiosity has only got stronger as I’ve used it to fuel my creative inspiration.
I live a short walk from the River Orwell, where I learnt to sail and eventually spent many years teaching with the RYA. During that time, I attended university at Arts University Bournemouth, where I studied Animation Production. It was there that I developed a passion for stop-motion and storytelling.
In 2022, I was accepted onto an 'Art Meets Science' workshop with the Bimini Shark Lab in the Bahamas, where I joined marine biologists and scientific illustrators on an incredible trip. We were blessed to dive with several different species of shark, learn of their conservation and fill our sketchbooks with the beauty of Bimini. This was a key moment in my art journey, where my two passions, art and nature, came together.
I’m also the proud co-founder of Memory Holmes, a small homeware and lifestyle brand with sustainability close to our hearts. With Memory Holmes, I get to bring a little more of the natural world indoors, creating designs that feel joyful and connected to nature.
Alongside my artwork, I work part-time with Art Safari, a travel company that curates painting holidays around the world. It’s a role that brings together my love for art, travel, and wildlife, allowing me to connect with local artists and visit amazing places, like Zambia, where I visited in 2024. In 2026, I took a leading role in planning and creatively producing Suffolk SketchFest, an outdoor art festival in Woodbridge, Suffolk.
The Artwork
My art is my way of celebrating the natural world! Nature creates all the beauty; I’m simply highlighting what makes it so special.
Snorkelling and rock pooling are two of my favourite ways to explore, and I love slowing down and taking the time to notice the seaweeds, fish and all the little details that might otherwise go unseen. Those places are definitely my happy places, and they’re a constant source of inspiration for my work.
I hope my art encourages others to slow down, look a little closer and discover their own connection with the natural world. If it can inspire a greater love and care for our planet along the way, even better.
